I just listened to the pod cast on my drive into work and I really enjoyed the discussion about WWIII games, many of which I still have. But I think you guys missed the most important and most obvious reason they are still popular: People want to re-fight World War II with M-1 tanks and F-15s. They like the cool technology that we've never seen in action in an all out conflict. That's why things like Walker's World at War are so popular. Folks want to fight M-1s versus T-72s, etc., and the historical steam rolling of the Iraqis doesn't scratch that itch.
